I often have people ask me the simple question: "How can I prevent the spam e-mails?" After about the 100th Time I heard this question I decided to get a list of comments, which I also below.

1. Check if your ISP has a way to filter spam before you receive it.

2. Make sure that your anti-virus software has an option to filter spam. If it can not be a cheap upgrade to a version, including the spam filter.

3. If you use Microsoft Outlook Express as your e-mail upgrade to the open-source email client Thunderbird from the team, you are the Firefox Web browser. It also includes an excellent spam filter and it's free.
